Over the years, the formats for film distribution have changed: starting with the oral tradition, to text, radio, film, TV and then video, digital and now the internet. How was this new format changed the nature of storytelling? What value have we gained? And, what have we lost? Film Distribution in the age of the internet - what that is, and how has it affected our lives.

Panel Moderator - Konstantin Rubchinsky

KONSTANTIN RUBCHINSKY is an expert of DIY filmmaking, development, and production for startups. I conceived DigiPops.TV, published the patent, built the team, and oversaw site development, soup to nuts. In 2013, I managed a team of 8, built the beta platform, acquired 17 partner film schools, 3 sponsors, and 2 affiliates. As owner of Papalove Productions, I’ve worked for top brands like Sony Music, Toll Brothers, and Posner Advertising. Prior, to filmmaking, I produced and directed stage plays for Graham Windham and Jewish Community Center. I taught special education, college composition, and have a master’s in literature degree. My first start-up was Good Karma Living, a personal training business I started during my theater years.

Joana Vicente is Joana Vicente has been the Executive Director of the IFP- the oldest and largest nonprofit organization for independent filmmakers in the U.S.- since December 2009. Under Vicente's leadership, the IFP was most recently bestowed with the honor of developing and operating the Made in NY Media Center after an RFP was issued by the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment and the New York City Economic Development Corporation. The state-of-the-art Media Center brings together professionals from the film, television, advertising, new media, gaming, marketing and branding industries for collaboration and new opportunities, and opened in DUMBO, Brooklyn in October 2013.
Prior to the IFP, Vicente and her partner Jason Kliot produced/executive produced over forty films by such acclaimed directors as Jim Jarmusch, Miguel Arteta, Brian De Palma, Hal Hartley, Steven Soderbergh, Nicole Holofcener, and Todd Solondz. She has co-founded three separate and unique film production entities over the course of her career. These include Open City Films, Blow Up Pictures, the first digital production company in the United States, and HDNet Films, an award-winning digital production company founded with Mark Cuban and Todd Wagner.

Chris Chan Roberson has been teaching at NYU since the Fall of 1999. For over ten years he's been involved with the Future Filmmakers Workshop and Summer Filmmakers Workshop (classes offered to high school students). Chris has won a Telly Award for his editing work while at Robert Small Entertainment and was an editor for TV shows on Comedy Central and The Biography Channel.
Currently Chris is the Studio Manager/Lead Producer at YouTube Space NYC, a free facility for monetized YouTube partners to make content for their YouTube channels. On YouTube, you can find Chris writing and performing at AllHailRetcon, CourtneyChrisChannel, and the Neibauer series on SciFiRiot.

J. Sibley Law, Founder and CEO of Saxon Mills, is the creator of twenty online television series ranging from cooking shows and animation series to political spoofs and scripted narratives and everything in between.
One of the first YouTube Partners (ever), he is an Official Honoree of the Webby Awards and he regularly creates commercials for broadcast. Additionally, he co-founded the NYC Web Series Writers Group for the International Academy of Web Television (IAWTV), where he also serves on the board of directors.
His book, Streaming Media Delivery in Higher Education is available on IGI Global. His articles about the online video industry can be read in various industry publications.
Additionally, he is a co-founder of the Stratford Shakespeare Festival (now called Festival Stratford) in Connecticut and was its executive producer from 2005-2010. In addition to all this, he has been a management consultant for Fortune 500 companies since 2000. In this role he has worked with top-level executive management and line producers in every major industry segment for hundreds of the world’s most profitable companies.
